THE CHALLENGE / REQUIREMENT

COMET is a policy processing application used for commercial lines of business in the UK, mainly for large business accounts. New business and renewals, along with multiple types of MTA, can be processed in COMET. COMET’s unique feature allows any business that is processed or booked outside it to be brought back into its system – with renewal and MTA to be processed on its records.

A suite of MI reports using Cognos can enable all performance management reports to be obtained from COMET records. However, the client’s policy administration was inconsistent with manual processes for many critical activities in the area of underwriting. Further, the line of authority escalation and approval for underwriters was cumbersome and time-consuming due to absence of workflow and automation.

What was required was an efficient policy issuance system to create, renew and implement mid-term adjustments - especially for small and medium businesses.

THE SOLUTION

 

We leveraged Pega PRPC’s BPM (PRPC 6.1, Oracle 9i, WebSphere 6.0) capabilities to build an enterprise class underwriting and policy admin system, with workflow and process automation capabilities. This increased the processing efficiency and accuracy. We also integrated HP Exstream’s (Now OpenText Exstream) document printing system with Policy Admin through automatic rules processing.
