SAVE 57% COST BY MIGRATING LEGACY POWERBUILDER TO THE WEB

CLIENT

The client is a US government-owned, healthcare maintenance system that needed to modernize its applications. It needed comprehensive capabilities to transform its legacy client-server architecture. And the modernized architecture had to conform with US regulations.

The client wanted to migrate its PowerBuilder legacy client to the web. Also, the web application needed to be multilingual, conform to US 508-accessibility standards, provide ease of maintenance, and drive complete business transformation.

SOLUTION

In order to achieve the client-server transformation, our team at Mphasis delivered a solution that enabled the client to:

  • Analyze its source application.
  • Create 800 ADF faces (pages) from PowerBuilder 800 dynamic windows.
  • Enable US 508 accessibility standards and multi-lingual capabilities.
  • Auto generate a program structure and user interface (UI) objects.
  • Define process documents.
  • Develop a custom web application framework/design using scalable Oracle ADF.
  • Assure development, coding, unit testing, and system testing.
  • Build QTP framework and automated QTP testing.
  • Establish go-live support.

BENEFITS

Our solution delivered the following benefits:

Shorter delivery cycles.

Re-useable patterns that could be leveraged later to generate other technology stacks.

Easy implementation of the set, standard, technology stack.

Enhanced user interface.

True browser-based application.

Overall Cost reduction of 57 percent when compared to the manual re-write approach.
