The client required a technology solution that would share portal infrastructure regionally, thereby reducing operational costs, while enabling faster rollout. In addition, it sought to enhance customer experience by improving responsiveness, providing customer self-service functions, and offering the latest and most relevant information under a single brand.
We were responsible for the global rollout of an International Portal Toolkit (IPT) and focused on end-to-end delivery. The team used J2EE, Weblogic, Epicentric portal builder, and the Interwoven content management tool to devise a solution that included global framework architecture, as well as country-specific requirements analysis, framework implementation, customization, and testing. The solution provided for:
• Mapping and integration of the framework components
• Implementing third-party content provider components, portal builder components, and business components
• Unifying back-end system interfaces
• Managing deployment, configuration, and system monitoring for capacity planning, content creation, migration, and production
• Overseeing cut-over planning to post-production level 2 and level 3 support
The solution enabled the client to:
• Integrate online banking functionality with other content, while providing for user authentication via a single sign on
• Provide personalization, user customization, and internationalization—even supporting the deployment of the portal in multiple languages
• Reduce the time-to-market for bank sites
• Create and syndicate content based on country-specific requirements
