The client is a global safety consulting and certification company with offices in 46 countries and over 8000 employees. It was looking for a robust mailbox migration and efficiency enhancement solution.
The client used Lotus Notes for its mail services, but the platform was unstable and had distributed components. The platform’s issues around mobility, productivity, performance, and costs hampered the operations of the client. Some of the challenges that needed redressal were that 50 percent of mailboxes were associated with mobile users and users were scattered across different geographic locations. In addition, user training, communication, and experience were other issues that the client needed help with.
That’s when the client invited us—Mphasis—for consulting and defining a roadmap to migrate 7500 mailboxes from Lotus Notes to the next-gen technology of Microsoft Office 365.
After evaluating the current and recommended scenario, we executed the mailbox migration successfully using a number of tools and technologies—Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online, Skype for online business, OneNote, SharePoint, Yammer, and Microsoft Teams. Further, the solution was structured as follows:
• Consultation
Engaged with the client to understand business challenges and requirements
• Demonstration
Exhibited solutions to enable the client to select the right package
• Migration
Migrated the mailboxes to Microsoft Office 365
• Training
Conducted workshops and camps to educate users
We also used a rounded build delivery model that spanned assessment, design and build, migration, and user onboarding and training
Our migration efforts enabled the client to achieve the following benefits:
• Better user mobilization and collaboration
• Enhanced efficiency of 30 percent
• High uptime and pay per user model
• Improved security
